# How to set up Zak Affiliate Marketing & Short Links on Shopify?🤔
To configure **affiliate marketing** and generate **short links**, begin by installing the [**Zak Affiliate Marketing & Link**](https://apps.shopify.com/zak-affiliate-marketing-link) app from the **Shopify App Store.**
After installing the app, you will land on the **'Get Started'** page. Click on **'Get Started'** to begin the setup process in the **Zak app.**
Click on **"Enable"** to activate the app extension in the **theme embed** and unlock all features.
After activating the extension, click on **'Verify Installation.'** Once verified, click on **'Next,'** which will become **enabled,** confirming that the app is **successfully activated** in the **Theme Embed.**
Next, **enter a name** and set the **default commission rate** for your **affiliates**. You can choose between a **percentage-based commission** or a **fixed amount,** depending on what best suits your needs, as both options are **supported in Zak.**\
Once the details are added, click on the **'Save & Next'** button to proceed.
Select the **commission payment methods** to be displayed for **affiliates,** enabling them to choose their **preferred option** and enter **payment details.** Then click on **“Save”.**
You can add an **Affiliate Portal page** to your **website,** allowing affiliates to **log in and manage their accounts.** This page can be added to your store’s main **navigation menu, footer, customer account page,** or **kept hidden** based on your preference. You can customize the **menu page name** to display it as per your preference for customers.
Next, you have the option to add your **first affiliate** and **assign** them to a **program.** This step is **optional,** you can add an affiliate now or choose to do so later at your convenience. Once completed, click on **'Finish'** to finalize the setup.
After completing the setup, you will be redirected to the **Zak dashboard😊.**
